Fuel prices in Mauritius will remain unchanged, following a review by the Petroleum Pricing Committee (PPC) on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.

The price of petrol stays at Rs 61.20 per litre, while diesel remains at Rs 58.95 per litre, according to a statement issued by the State Trading Corporation (STC).

The PPC said it reviewed global fuel trends, exchange rates, and the current financial state of the Price Stabilisation Account (PSA) before making its decision.

Although the reference price for petrol (Mogas) has dropped by 3.72%, reaching US$707.32 per metric ton, this is below the 4% threshold required for an automatic price cut under existing regulations.

As for diesel, while global prices have fallen to US$87.76 per barrel, the committee cited a Rs 2.7 billion deficit in the diesel PSA. Regulations stipulate that prices can only be lowered if the PSA has sufficient funds, which it currently does not.

The committee’s decision means Mauritian consumers will see no immediate relief at the pump, despite downward trends in global oil prices.
